Finished my 30 by 22 inch watercolor of the Horses of Saint Mark's Basilica, probably created by a very famous Greek sculptor, Lyssippos, in the fourth century BCE, made almost entirely of pure copper, gold plated, scratched to reflect light, once stood above the Hippodrome in Constantinople. I have long been fascinated by their spontaneity and beauty, the way they glow with indomitable sentience.
